Last day (2021/03/15) around 03.00 am, an emergency fire occurred in the Kajimawatta of Madampitiya Grama Niladari area of Thotalaga area of the Colombo Divisional Secretariat.
Nearly 32 houses that were currently on fire were identified and nearly 100 people have been displaced so far.
Currently medical facilities have been provided to the victims and the displaced stay at the Modara Garden Apartment Complex and Community Hall.
The place was inspected by Colombo District Secretary / Deputy Pradeep Yasaratne and Colombo Divisional Secretary Nalaka Rathnayake.

New Colombo Divisional Secretary starts duties
Colombo's new Divisional Secretary Mr. Nalaka Rathnayake started his duty on 2021-02-23.
Colombo District Secretary Mr.Pradeep Yasaratne, Additional District Secretary Mr.Sampath Idamgodage and former Divisional Secretary Mrs.Kanchana Gunawardhana participated to the ceremony of the newly appointed Divisional Secretary.

The Honorary Ceremony was organized by the Sarvodaya Colombo District Office and "Shanthi Sena" to recognize the humanitarians who worked for the victory of humanity without fear of disasters. The UNDP NGO made the financial contribution. The evaluation of 08 public officers who have rendered a service beyond their duties during the Kovid 19 epidemic was held on 26 January 2021 at the auditorium of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat. Mr. Pradeep Yasaratne, District Secretary / Government Agent, Colombo and Mrs. Kanchana Gunawardena, Divisional Secretary, Colombo were also specially commended for their excellent service. |
